Editorial policy

Tooldex earns trust by being clear about why a website is included, what was checked, what can change, and how mistakes are corrected.

Selection criteria

A resource should solve a recognizable problem or create a worthwhile experience. Selection considers:

Review process

  1. Open and use the primary website.
  2. Identify its main job, audience, access model, and important limitations.
  3. Compare it with direct alternatives when the page makes a ranking or recommendation.
  4. Link to the official source and clearly label time-sensitive claims.
  5. Recheck priority collections when material changes or credible correction reports surface.

“Reviewed” does not mean every feature, plan, jurisdiction, or edge case has been tested. Tooldex avoids claiming exhaustive testing when the evidence does not support it.

Ranking and commercial relationships

Payment does not buy a higher editorial rank. Sponsored or affiliate relationships must be disclosed where they affect a link or placement. A submission may lead to a review, but never guarantees inclusion.

AI-assisted work

Automation may help organize data, detect duplicates, check links, or draft internal notes. Material recommendations and factual claims should be reviewed by a person before publication. Large legacy profile sets that have not met this standard are excluded from search indexing until they are re-reviewed.

Corrections, removals, and updates

Clear factual errors, broken links, missing disclosures, and safety issues are prioritized. Material directory and policy changes are recorded in the public changelog. To request a correction or removal, use the contact page and include the affected URL plus supporting evidence.
